Work with young children

Alex has taught young children in Montessori, Reggio-Emilia-informed, church-based, and psychoanalytic preschools; in State College, Pennsylvania, in New York City, and in Rutherford, New Jersey. Some of Alex’s fondest memories from teaching included working with open-ended materials, supporting children to develop and carry out their own plans in the classroom, and using therapeutic techniques for understanding and engaging with children’s emotional experiences. While those years as a teacher were formative and fulfilling, Alex learned most from her years spent nannying and babysitting children, from newborns to third-graders.
